About Bu Therapy

Bu Therapy works with YOU. You are, after all, the expert with what is going on in your life today. Together we will work on areas that might be affecting your life and what you would like to change.

Using CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), which is a talking therapy focusing on the “here and now”, l can help you with areas such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem and confidence, eating disorders, and many more.

I also have over 20 years experience in the areas of addiction and recovery.

CBT therapy looks at the present rather then the past, and identifies negative or maladaptive thinking styles that makes you see things differently and out of focus.

I will work with you in a collaborative manner so we can correct this “blurred view” of life and bring clarity, focus and direction back into your life.

As a CBT therapist I do not “fix you”. We work together during the sessions using a variety of tools and techniques that should help to bring about the changes you are seeking to make to your life in a safe and confidential environment, always working at your own pace. I will also be asking you to work on yourself in between sessions to allow you to discover more about yourself and how you can help me to help you. This is what we call “homework” and is a very important part of your therapy.

I offer face-to-face sessions or zoom along with a £10 30-minute initial call via Zoom or phone so you can decide for yourself if we could work together.

I can offer you a 1-hour face to face meeting at Beeslack High School for £55 or if you prefer via Zoom.

Now spring has sprung i am now offering a 1 hour walk and talk therapy session for £55.

Bu Therapy can help you to regain control and direction in your life, and “together we can come out of the darkness and into the light”.

Initial 30 minute consultation

What People Say

"I found Steve to be down-to-earth, easy to talk to and very professional in his approach. I learnt something every time we spoke; he helped me gain perspective and insight into challenging situations and I definitely moved forward as a result of our meetings. There were times when I thought I'd have nothing to say, but he created a safe space where things usually surfaced - and sometimes surprised me. The tools he introduced me to were very helpful, and he walked me through them kindly and supportively. As a result of our sessions I'm definitely noticing my own responses to triggers in a different way and working on making adjustments to my thinking and behaviour."
Client A
"Steve and I worked together for a period of 12 sessions over three months. Steve displayed excellent listening skills and really made me feel heard. Together with Steve I was able to become less anxious in social situations, feel better about my own self image and become more comfortable in my own skin. Steve regularly checked in with me on how sessions were going and tailored sessions individually to me. I would happily see Steve again if I had any future concerns."
Client C
“I found Steve to be very responsive, non judgemental and an easy person to speak to. I felt safe and listened to and this allowed us to work on more that I thought I would within our sessions together. My experience of therapy with Steve has been a very positive one and I feel that I now have a clearer understanding of myself and with this insight I feel better prepared for any difficult situations that may arise in the future. Thank you Steve.”
